Olakunle Jaiyesimi is a Pharmacist with a Master Degree (Pharmacognosy) from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria and a PhD (Natural and Synthetic Products/Metabolomics) obtained from the University of Sao Paulo, Ribeirao Preto, Brasil. After obtaining his doctoral degree, he did a Postdoctoral Fellowship program at the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Georgia Institute of Technology, where he applied Untargeted Metabolomics approaches to interrogate host-pathogen metabolic interactions in the context of Stony Corals and Cystic Fibrosis-associated pathogens and their host cells or environment amongst others.
He is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in Cassandra Extavour’s Lab, Department of Orgaismic and Evolutionary Biology/Molecular and Cellular Biology, Harvard University. He applies untargeted metabolomics to gain insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying the interactions between the phenotypes and genotypes of diverse organisms. (More about Olakunle here)
